Tom Roozen

Netherlands

My name is Tom Roozen and since I was young there have been Belgian Shepherds in my life. My parents had their first cross breed Belgian in 1972 (Malinois x Groenendael). In 1985 the first pedigree Groenendael, Laska Batazicht, was bought and in 1987 the first litter was born under our kennel name “de Bruine Buck”. One of Laska’s daughters, Nozem de Bruine Buck, turned out to be the foundation bitch of our kennel. In the mid-nineties we started to show dogs from our kennel more frequently and I got more involved in the kennel, showing and breeding. The results I am most proud of are at the French National, the biggest show for Belgian Shepherds. We got 10 times Best of Breed at this show with three Best in Show Winners. For me it is always a challenge to present good breeding groups that show the consistency in our breeding program and we won 8 times Best kennel in Show at the French National. In 2022 I had the honor to judge at this same show the Groenendael (Belgian Sheepdog) females.
Other results I would like to mention are two best in show at all breed shows, 8 world champion titles and 3 times Best of Breed at Crufts. Almost 30 years of showing resulting in a long list of champions and Best in Show (Specialty) Winners and best in show Breeder groups. It is almost obvious that I met my wife Renee through our passion the Belgian Shepherds. Together with our daughters Floortje and Ginger, my parents, my parents in law and a big group of friends who own dogs from our kennel we have a great hobby in showing, working, breeding and judging Belgians Shepherds. In 2018 I passed my breed exam and I have been able do judge our beloved breed in- and outside Europe.
