Marjo Nygård

Finland

I’m Marjo Nygård from Kajaani. My family had a Cocker Spaniel when I was a child and later on I also had a Wire-haired Dachshund, but my real ”dog life” started in 1991 when the first Dandie Dinmont Terrier entered the household – and another one joined it still that same year. During these 30+ years I have bred altogether 8 Dandie litters with my partner under the prefix Dunadan. In addition to showing, I have also trained Obedience and Agility with my Dandies. For nearly ten years our family also included a Boxer, and with him I was introduced to working trials. Nowadays my great passion and main hobby is Nosework (scent detection), and with my youngest Dandie we have recently qualified for Class 3, the highest class in Finnish Nosework trials. Outside the dog world, I work at an industrial automation company as documentation manager, and I even have a non-doggy hobby: Oriental dance. Over the years I have been actively involved in various dog clubs and show committees, as well as in our own breed club. Interest in dog shows quickly led me to a career as a ring steward – something I still do when I have the chance – and in 2002 I also became a judge, my first breed being of course Dandies. Today I am authorised for FCI groups 3, 4, 6 and 7, nearly all breeds in FCI group 2, and a few breeds from groups 8 and 9. In addition to Finland, I have judged in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
