I got my first dog, a Labrador Retriever, as a teenager in 1995. The breed – and the entire dog hobby – captivated me immediately. At the turn of the millennium, I also became interested in breeding, and my kennel name Mouldhill’s was granted in 2003. Since then, I have successfully bred Labrador Retrievers, and since 2018 also Wirehaired Dachshunds, both Standard‑sized and Miniature.
I have been involved in dog club activities ever since I reached adulthood. I currently serve as the Chair of the Finnish Labrador Retriever Club, the Head of the Breeding Committee, and a member of the Conformation Judges Committee, and I also represent the breed club in the Finnish Kennel Club Council. I qualified as a conformation judge in 2017, naturally beginning with Labrador Retrievers and FCI Group 8. I have been fortunate to receive judging appointments in many countries across Europe.
With my own dogs, I actively participate in dog shows and, with the Retrievers, also in Retriever field trials. With the Dachshunds, I have become familiar with blood tracking trials as well as earthdog trials and hunting. In the autumn, I mainly go bird hunting with my dogs, and when needed, I also track wounded deer. In my civilian life, I work as a Planning Manager at the Regional Council of Kymenlaakso, focusing on regional land‑use planning and advocacy. And to ensure I don’t end up with too much free time, my life also includes an active horse hobby, both riding and involvement in harness racing. I thank the Finnish Kennel Club for the invitation and look forward to judging at the “Messari weekend,” as we Finns like to call it!
