Flat-Coated Retrievers were victorious at Helsinki Winner 2025

On the first day of the Dog Fair Finland, a rare situation was seen when dogs from one kennel won both Best in Show and the Best Breeder Group prizes in both shows.

The Best in Show in the Helsinki Winner 2025 show was Caci’s Fifty Shades Of Music, a Flat-Coated Retriever, owned by Jenny Andersson from Sweden. The Best in Show was chosen by Tomas Rohlin from Denmark.

The same kennel also won the prize for the Best Breeder’s Group, when judge Markku Mähönen put Caroline Lundqvist, Lina Jernberg and Carina Östman‘s Swedish Caci’s kennel at the top of the breeders.

A double winning kennel also in the Helsinki Winner Puppy Show

The Helsinki Winner Puppy Show 2025 was also held at the Dog Fair Finland today, with the maximum number of participants, i.e. 900 puppies. Also in the Helsinki Winner Puppy Show, dogs from the same kennel won both the Best in Show and the Best Breeder Group prizes.

The table of the Helsinki Winner Puppy Show was cleaned  by the Finnish Kingpoint kennel of Tuija Rönhovde and Susanna Gerkman-Hiltunen with their whippets.

Judge Jarmo Hilpinen chose Kingpoint Piadina owned by Claudia and Tuija Rönhovde as the Best in Show puppy. Kingpont’s whippets were chosen as the best breeder group by judge Karin Bergbom.

Best Veteran and Junior Handlers

Norwegian judge Svein Helgeen chose the Finnish Cocker Spaniel Northworth Pop Star, owned  by Carita Toikka, as  the Best Veteran.

On the day of the show, the last Junior Handler Finnish Championship competition of the year was also competed, which was judged by Ella Ruuni. The competition was held in two age groups. The winner of the younger age group, i.e. 10–13-year-olds, was Janella Ikäheimonen and the winner of the older age group of 14–17-year-olds was Teiva Aare. Of them, Aare was chosen as the best junior handler of the day.

From this competition Liisa Turtiainen, who came second in the 14–17-year-olds, will continue to the Finnish Championship final on Sunday.

Featuring 350 dog breeds from 19 different countries 

Almost 6,800 dogs participated in the shows of the day, of which almost 5 900 participated in the Helsinki Winner Show and 900 in the Helsinki Winner Puppy Show. The puppy show was especially popular this year, as the quota of entries was full and there would have been more people interested.

350 different dog breeds were represented in the day’s shows. The highest number of dogs were Labrador Retrievers (109), Shetland Sheepdogs (89), Golden Retrievers (81), Rough Collies (72) and Australian Shepherds (69).

Dogs from 19 different countries participated in the shows. After Finland, the largest number of participants came from Sweden (176) and Estonia (136). The most distant participants came to the exhibition from the United States and Canada.
