Guy Devriendt

Belgium

Guy Devriendt happily married with Sonja, father of one son and living in the meadows of “beautiful hilly” Scherpenheuvel (Montegue Meadows) – Belgium. Our first Rough Collie (Markies) joined the family 40 years ago and it was thanks to our neighbour-friend, who was showing “German Shepherd Dogs” in these times, that, although I was very busy with many other sports, we also started to show. Markies became a Multi Champion in no time and ended up “Vice World Champion”. Every day, I still have the feeling that this was meant to be so. We continued our show adventures and with the help and advice of several very important Collie people in England and Finland, we achieved beautiful results for many years. Other Collies (dogs and bitches), most of them imports from England and a Sheltie followed. They all became Champion & Multi Champion. At this moment we have four Multi Champions in the house, two imports from Finland, one from Wales and one own breed. Soon, Our Kennel name “Of Montegue Meadows” became a fact and now and then we had a litter. We decided to remain a small Kennel, maximum five dogs at the same time, because we always wanted to give attention to every single dog and because once a dog in the house, he/she remains with us until the very last minute. In Mar 2015, I started my FCI judging career and today I am allowed to judge the complete Group 1 and a part of Group 6. During the COVID period, I started to do other interesting things again and breed examinations came to a temporary stop. I judged at National and International Shows in Belgium, the Netherlands. Luxembourg, Germany, France, England, Ireland, Denmark, Norway, the Czech Republic, Austria and now finally in Finland, the country of origin of two of my lovely dogs.
I am full member of the Belgian Kennel Club (Sint Hubertus), a member of the “Breed and Selection Committee” for the “Belgian Shepherd Dogs” and for the “French Briards” in Belgium and a member of the Show Committee of the yearly “LOVANIUM CACIB-Show” in Leuven – BELGIUM.
