My name is Søren Wesseltoft - born in Copenhagen in 1944. Originally, I am educated as a computerprogrammer and system analyst. But an encreasing interest in photography in the late sixties, changed my life and I became pressphotographer working for a business magazine in Denmark. I have since 1974 illustrated more than 50 books about dogs, not only in Denmark but in the US and other European countries.
My interest in dogs began, when my wife Winnie and I, in 1973 bought our first Newfoundlanddog. The number of dogs encreased in our family and we started to breed Newfs in 1977 under the kennel-prefix “Bjørnebanden” (The Beargang).
In this period of time, I have been deeply involved in different kinds of dogactivities. Shows, obediencetraining, co-editor of the Danish “Newfoundlandposten”, healthsurvey for the Danish Newfoundlanddogs and I have organized the Newf-rescue program in Denmark. I have been in the board of Newfoundlandklubben i Danmark for 6 years and have served as president and vicepresident.
After judging several fun-matches in Denmark, I was educated as Newfoundlandjudge in 1990 and since then - I have judged in most countries in Europe, South Australia, New Zealand in 1998 and the National Newfoundland Specialty 2004 in USA.
