My name is Auður Sif Sigurgeirsdóttir and I'm an ex junior handler, a judge, a breeder and in general, a dog enthusiast from Iceland.
Dogs have been a huge part of my life since I was a little girl and I was so lucky to grow up with them. I started junior handling as soon as I was old enough and represented Iceland at Crufts in 1998, 1999 and in 2000 when I became a runner-up (2nd place) in the International Junior Handling Final! One of the most amazing moments in my life!
I was one of the founders of the youth organisation in the Icelandic Kennel Club and the coach of the Icelandic Junior Handling team at the Nordic Winner Shows from 2006 to 2017. I decided to step aside after my many years as a coach when Iceland won both the team and individual competitions at the Nordic Winner Show in Helsinki 2017. One of the proudest moments in my life!
I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to judge in Finland this December and can't wait to see all the talented Finnish junior handlers do what they do best, show dogs!
Remember to first and foremost show your dog to its best, have good connection with him/her and enjoy your time together in the ring. The dog should always be number 1, 2 and 3 and we must remember that dogs are not robots who always perform 100% - they are sweet, amazing, fun and sometimes very naughty and playful and it's so important to have a sense of humor when it comes to dogs.
Look forward to seeing you all and visiting my favorite koira-country, Finland!
