I’ve been a member of the Finnish Kennel Club since 1979. We had pedigree dogs already in my childhood home and this interest has stuck with me through life. I’m particularly interested in breeding, and one of the best parts of this hobby is naturally officiating as a dog show judge. I breed dogs with my sister Jaana under the kennel name Necku. Our first litter was born in 1984, they were Kerry Blue Terriers. Apart from Dachshunds, we’ve bred or owned dogs from all FCI groups. Dogs from our kennel have been imported to four different continents and have also become champions on all continents. Some 100 dogs from our kennel are champions. I became a dog show judge in 1993, first breed was Great Dane. I judge dogs from FCI groups 1, 2, 5 and all breeds of group 10. In addition to Finland, I’ve also judged in Sweden and Estonia. My hobbies include, besides dogs, reading, travelling, photographing and especially horses. We have bred a few foals too and I have been riding since the 70s.
